Section 2

When using links inline using postion: absolute; is preferred to display: inline-block; to get transforms and other effects working because it seems like the element doesn't take up any extra space. Link to page 16.

Section 3

Using the z-index is key but tricky. According to the spec:

“The ::before and ::after pseudo-elements interact with other boxes as if they were real elements inserted just inside their associated element.”

Scale(0) worked. I wasn't sure as described as a multiplier but it's a multiplier of 1. Link to: page 23.
